Kala Raksha Producer Company Limited (KRPCL) is an artisan-owned enterprise established to strengthen the livelihoods of traditional embroidery and weaving communities in Kutch, Gujarat.
The company was incorporated on 11 August 2021 under the Companies Act, 2013 as a producer company limited by shares. KRPCL was formed as part of the Off-Farm Producer Organization (OFPO) initiative supported by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to organize rural craft producers into a sustainable business entity.
Kutch has a rich heritage of embroidery and weaving traditions practiced by different communities for generations. However, despite their extraordinary skills, many artisans historically struggled with irregular income and limited access to markets.
Before the formation of the producer company:
Kala Raksha Producer Company Limited was promoted by Kala Raksha Trust, which has worked with craft communities in Kutch for many years. Through the NABARD-supported project, artisans were mobilized into producer groups across multiple villages and organized into a collective business structure.
